This course equips students with advanced legal research skills tailored to the Bangladeshi legal system. Participants will learn to navigate both print and digital legal resources, including Bangladeshi law reports, statutes, and secondary sources. The course covers techniques for using legal databases and online resources specific to Bangladesh, as well as international legal databases. Students will learn to conduct efficient and effective legal research, including strategies for finding relevant case law, statutes, and scholarly articles. The course also covers proper citation methods for Bangladeshi legal materials, following the standards set by the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Participants will learn to cite various types of legal sources, including cases, statutes, regulations, and secondary sources. The course includes practical exercises in legal research and writing, focusing on real-world legal issues in Bangladesh. Students will be introduced to the use of AI and machine learning tools in legal research, discussing both their potential and limitations in the Bangladeshi context. The course will also cover the ethical considerations in legal research, including the proper use and attribution of sources. Emphasis will be placed on developing critical analysis skills to evaluate the relevance and reliability of legal sources. By the end of the course, students will be proficient in conducting comprehensive legal research and properly citing sources in accordance with Bangladeshi legal standards.
